Festive Season celebrations and Christmas tree at Fed Square Melbourne

Fed Square transforms into Christmas Square – Melbourne’s home of festive lights, free events and family fun.

Introduction

Celebrate the festive season at Fed Square with a month of inclusive, free programming from 28 November to 25 December 2025. Expect family-friendly entertainment, outdoor cinema, live performances, markets and community gatherings that light up the city with joy and colour.

Once again, Fed Square becomes Christmas Square – home to Melbourne’s spectacular 17.5-metre light-up Christmas tree. It’s the perfect starting point for your city adventures this holiday season.

Event Overview

This year’s festive program features returning favourites like As Camp as Christmas and Koorie Krismas, along with the Christmas Outdoor Cinema: Naughty or Nice Edition and the luminous Pillars of Light Chanukah celebration. Add to that vibrant markets, roving entertainment, and the sparkle of Christmas lights right across the precinct.

1. Christmas Square

28 November – 25 December | Swanston St Forecourt
The heart of Melbourne’s Christmas festivities featuring the City’s iconic tree and twinkling decorations. A perfect backdrop for festive photos and family moments.

2. Christmas Festival Launch

28 November | Main Square
Kick off the season in style with an evening of free entertainment and the first lighting of Melbourne’s stunning 17.5m Christmas tree.

3. As Camp As Christmas

5 December, 6pm–10pm | Main Square
A joyful, glitter-filled queer cabaret featuring some of Melbourne’s most dazzling drag and performance artists. Expect sequins, sass and festive cheer curated by glam duo The Huxleys.

4. Koorie Krismas

13 December, 10am–4pm | Main Square
Celebrate with Koorie Klaus, enjoy live entertainment, family activities and a First Peoples makers’ market showcasing local talent and creativity.
Presented by the Koorie Heritage Trust, supported by Fed Square and City of Melbourne.

5. Christmas Outdoor Cinema: Naughty or Nice Edition

8–11 December, 6pm–10pm | Main Square
From wholesome favourites like Klaus and The Grinch to cheeky cult classics like Gremlins and Krampus, enjoy festive double features under the stars thanks to United Airlines – sponsor of the series.

Bonus: Pillars of Light

14–19 + 21 December | Main Square
A luminous celebration of Chanukah and community, featuring talks, performances and gatherings that invite people of all backgrounds to share in light and connection.
